Welcome to Shepherd's Square! Shepherd's Square is owned and operated by myself, Richard Frazier, and my wife of 24 years, Renee. Shepherd's Square has changed a lot along the way. After a few different versions and a few name changes I stopped and really looked at this page here, the About Us page.  Some real soul-searching, reading, and of course prayer was needed to arrive at the Shepherd's Square that you are seeing.

It's not what we are doing, it's why we are doing it.

The religious landscape of the United States continues to change at a rapid pace. At the time of the nation’s founding, few people believed that education could be divorced from religion; religious instruction was viewed as being indispensable for the inculcation of virtue and morality in children. More than 55 years after the Supreme Court issued its landmark ruling striking down school-sponsored prayer, the religiously unaffiliated share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” continues to grow. The lack of religious instruction and prayer in our schools and many other changes in the public square has taken root.

Over the past ten years or so I have really been blessed by the ministry of Dr. John MacArthur at Grace Community Church. While my wife and I don't live in Southern California, Grace to You, Dr. MacArthur's online ministry, has helped me grow as a Christian and as a man. One day I was listening to a sermon and Dr. MacArthur was teaching about how the contemporary emphasis in evangelicalism is a believer’s personal relationship with Christ. That individual faith is the pervasive theme, and rarely is there any discussion of how believers are supposed to fit into the church. Scripture clearly teaches us that coming to Christ means coming to His church and repeatedly emphasizes the importance of local assemblies and that every Christian is to be under the protection and guidance of a local church. I, too, was guilty of not giving myself to a local congregation. Just about every other week a Jehovah's Witness or a Mormon would knock on my door asking if I knew God, inviting me to their gatherings...Where was the Baptist, the Methodist or any Protestant denomination for that matter? How come they aren't knocking on my door? So I started looking at how I can help the men and women in church leadership with the task of fulfilling the Great Commission.

Who really knows how many churches close each year due to lack of attendance. I believe we can do a better job inviting our friends and neighbors to come and worship with us. The mission of Shepherd's Square is to help the men and women in church leadership do what we can to reverse this trend in America. I believe we as a nation have been blessed by our Lord because America was founded as a Christian nation. This is a monumental task -- bigger than me, for sure. But it's not bigger than our Lord. Jesus said He would build His Church and the gates of Hades would not overpower it. If you are reading this I ask you to join us.
